The sad news of Darwyn Cooke's passing will leave a huge hole in the comic world for me.
While, there are many comic artists whose work I admire, and I am constantly impressed by lots of artists chops, Darwyn was definitely my favorite contemporary comic book creator, no question.
As soon as he arrived on the scene it was love at first sight for me.
His work embodies everything I love about the best comics...super clear storytelling, amazing drawing and a real sense of adventure and even, dare I say it, joy...which is sadly lacking in most "modern' comics.
I believe that people like Darwyn who use their lives to put some beauty back into the world definitely leave it a little better for having been here.
Let's remember to cherish them while they're here and appreciate them long after they've gone.
