TMNT group shot cover

I don't do a lot of TMNT art these days but I had this blank cover and some free time the other day so I did this cover. For once, I remembered to take scans of the process. As you can see, when it comes to Turtles at least, I work from pretty loose pencils....then do the ink line work with my fave go-to Zebra brush marker, then do the tones with gray copic markers.  It's on ebay now if you are interested

Pokeninja GO! Inktober 4

In my early con going days, a lot of us would draw what are today known as mash-ups, combining one comic character with something else. I think that Kevin Eastman and I both drew our fair share of BatTurtles for example.....so, this was just for fun. Black brush marker and white out pen on yellow paper.

Phoenix Inktober 3

Phoenix on tan paper, brush marker and white out pen. I get some 'grey' effects in the background by using a dried out black marker which gives a soft dry brush look.

Inktober heads!

Not sure if I will keep it up for the whole month, but I have been drawing these inked headshots in my spare time in preparation for NYCC next week so I thought I would post them. They are all 8.5x11, most are done in 20-40 minutes and inked with various brush markers and white out pens.

Darwyn Cooke

The sad news of Darwyn Cooke's passing will leave a huge hole in the comic world for me.
While, there are many  comic artists whose work I admire, and I am constantly impressed by lots of artists chops, Darwyn was definitely my favorite contemporary comic book creator, no question.

As soon as he arrived on the scene it was love at first sight for me.
His work embodies everything I love about the best comics...super clear storytelling, amazing drawing and a real sense of adventure and even, dare I say it, joy...which is sadly lacking in most "modern' comics.

I believe that people like Darwyn who use their lives to put some beauty back into the world definitely leave it a little better for having been here. 
Let's remember to cherish them  while they're here and appreciate them  long after they've gone.

NEW BATGIRL PRINT

Rom girl part 2

Here's the finished Spaceknight girl cover. It wasn't until I started inking it that I realized that it was one of the older Marvel blanks so I prepared myself for some copic smearing and cursing. I survived but it sure made me appreciate the fact that all of the publishers finally settled on nice cover stock for us to draw on ;)

I did the Rom cover on the left as a commission a year or so back. The buyer liked it and wanted another Spaceknight cover so I decided that it would be cool to continue the scene I started so I printed out the Rom art to size and put it next to the new one as I drew it...here's the pencils.

C2E2 Sketch list is open folks

My first con of the year will be C2E2, so I thought that I should let folks know that my pre-con commish list is open if you want to set something up before the show. I always encourage people who know what they want to get on the list so I can do some at home. I will be drawing the whole weekend at the con, but I can only draw so much at the con itself.
