The White Queen

I have to admit that my knowledge of Emma Frost is pretty limited. I remember her from her early XMen appearances and I've read the Josh Whedon run, but that's about it. I know that she wears skimpy outfits though!

Samurai girl

Every once in a while I'm asked to draw someones own characters rather than some established comic book heroine. I've got a lot of experience with drawing feudal Japanese arms and armor so this one was right up my ally.

DANGER GIRLS!

Here's a recent 3 part commission, small size 8.5x11 each. I used to really like the Dangergirls comic when Scott Campell was drawing it. It's too bad that he doesn't seem to like to stay on one book for too long because that comic had a lot more heart and sense of fun than most of what he's done since.

Oh that Dumb Bunny.

This one was a nice break from the more popular commission girls. I never read the Inferior Five, but this is one of the members of the team, her name is Dumb Bunny and oh yeah and she's super strong!

She's an Amazon!

I never turn down the chance to draw Wonder Woman. Eventhough Adam Hughes has set the bar soooo high on the character she is still one of my faves to draw. I also like the traditional eagle breast plate much better than any of the more modern "WW" emblems.

She-Devil with a sword!

I've been a fan of Red Sonja since the old Marvel days. I haven't followed the new series at all, but it's nice that she's back in the spotlight. This one is up on Ebay at the moment fyi....

Supergirls!

There's no doubt that Supergirl is one of my most popular sketch requests... these were all done in the past month or so. Most folks want her drawn in her latest attire, but since she's been around for a while, occassionally I get a chance to go for a more 'old school' '70's-'80's version of her which is always fun.

Shazam!

Mary Marvel is always a popular sketch subject. She is also one of the hardest characters to pull off because of the delicate balance of innocence/sexiness/and power....at least that's my take on her. I know that some artists like to sex her up a lot more but to each his own.

A bunch of sketches on Ebay!

I'm continuing to blow out some sketches that I have on hand...I don't like to keep them around too long or I don't feel any pressure to do new ones ;)
Here are some links to the auctions.....
Red Sonja

Vampirella

Snowbird

Medusa

Now in full color!

I brought a few color pieces (watercolor and colored pencils) to a comic con I recently attended in Toronto (love that town!). I didn't sell any of them...even my pandering Canadian babe...sheesh. The Mermaid was very popular with the girls though...I guess that they were just relieved not to be seeing another drawing of Wolverine!

EBAY...The Return!

Hey gang, after taking a break from Ebay and commissions for the Summer I'm moving slowly back into the swing of things. I just posted a few of the drawings from the 'Oh Canada' post that I had left if you are interested.

Canada HO!

I'm off to Toronto for a comic con this weekend. I usually like to have a bunch of pre-drawn sketches with me, so here's a handful of what I'll have with me for sale. Come on by!

Rogue

More and more, I prefer drawings where the characters are actually doing something rather than just posing, but in this case the guy who commissioned the piece gave me a specific pose that he wanted so I worked with that.

A simple Supergirl

Most of the commissions I get these days are for larger pieces but I still love to draw the smaller less complicated pin up type sketches as well. This one is 9x12 which is the size I usually work at cons, just so I don't get bogged down. As you can imagine, the bigger the art, the more complicated and time consuming it is to draw!

Wonder Girl again

I'm more of a Wonder Woman man than a Wonder Girl fan...but she sure is popular.

Black Canary suits up!

Sometimes folks have specific requests for commissions, in this case they wanted Black Canary getting dressed...so there you go.

Inhuman girls

I've always loved the Inhumans and Medusa in particular...must be that hair. I even tried to fit Lockjaw in there too, but it was just too much, maybe he'll show up next time ;)

MJ and Spidey and Black Cat oh my...

I don't do a lot of multiple figure commissions, mainly because it usually turns into a lot of work, but this one was fun. That web took a while I kind of got into a trance and went through and drew it all at once at the end.

Wonder Woman!

It had been a while since I did a Wonder Woman so I drew this one just for me! I'm playing around with different ways to draw hair lately, sometimes it works best when it's just a nice flowing shape rather than rendering out every strand.

Wonder girl

I could rattle off the top ten most popular commission characters and there's no way around it, Wondergirl is a popular sketch choice for a lot of fans. Here's the most recent one that I did. The only instructions that I got was to give her bear feet!

The Huntress

Here's another "gotham girl on a roof top" commission. I am not too familiar with the Huntress, but just from my google searching for reference on the character I noticed that she sure seems to have a lot of different costumes!

NY No show for you!

As some of you found out, I had to cancel my NYComicon appearance at the last minute. Sorry gang. Believe me, no one was more dissappointed than me, I was in such denial that I didn't unpack my suitcase till Sunday night.
Some people have expressed interest in some of the art I was intending to sell at the show, so if you interested in anything I posted here last week, email me at mdooney99@aol.com and I can get you prices and availability info. The pieces range from 9x12 to 11x17, most within the $50-$100 range. I may end up posting some of them on ebay eventually, especially the larger ones which are kind of a hassle to carry around with me to cons ;)

Enough alreadys sheeesh!

Okay, a couple more for NYC, I'm on a roll I guess. Doing big drawings at cons is impossible so I thought I'd bring some with me, these are 11x17 inches. I'm a fan of Mary Marvel, she has just the right mixture of cute/sexiness, when I see folks draw her overly sexy I think they are missing the point on the character.

Some more girls for NYC

Here are some more sketches I'll have with me at the New York Comicon this weekend. I'll be doing sketches in artists alley too, I'm sitting with the Ninja Turtle gang, we've got four backdrop banners of the Turtles so I should be pretty easy to spot!

New York Comicon is almost here!

I do sketches at cons, but I also like to bring some with me. Here are a bunch I will be bringing to NYC next weekend, so if you can find me in artist's alley maybe you can snag one!

The girl of the hour....

Suddenly, Zatanna is everyone's favorite. Sometimes it is hard for me to tell if it's the character that's suddenly popular or if some drawing that I recently did struck a cord....either way it works for me.
I usually tend to draw my girls kind of athletic, here Zatanna is a bit more buxom than I would normally draw her, but that was the request with the commission, and heck, I aim to please...within reason that is;)

New girls....

Sorry I haven't posted lately, here are a few I finished up this week to make up for it! These were all done for the same guy, the common thread here was capes and hair! All were drawn full comic page size 11x17.
