Megacon wrapped

So I survived my first con of the year and my first ever Megacon. Since I had no idea what to expect, I'm happy to report that it was a blast.
While the focus may not have been purely comic books at the show, the fun factor was very infectious there. I may have to reassess my opinion that Fan Expo in Toronto has the most people in costume, this show seems be be cosplay central ;) I don't know what it is about Florida, but they love to get dressed up down there, and I'm all for it! Since I have a limited knowledge of Anime, I don't know a lot of the characters, but it is still fun to see 'em.
My booth neighbor Gene Gonzales was great to hang with too, now go check out his blog!

Have no idea if the two have anything in common but I know a lot of the cosplay Floridian friends I have had also worked for Disney, so maybe the area just breeds people that enjoy dressing up??

*laughs*

Anyway glad to hear the show went so fantastic! I really did think you would enjoy Megacon and I am glad I was right! Did you see Shanter over the weekend?? There is someone I really want to meet but have yet to actually do so!

Also that Baby Doll cosplayer is AMAZING!! Best cosplayer picture you got by far!! I loved the character and it's a costume I want to do myself so seeing someone really put so much time and effort into her makes me happy!

Yeah it was fun. I never spotted Shatner. All of the celebs were in one open area, but he was behind a black curtain and they must have snuck him in and out (or beamed him in?) 'cause I never spotted him.
Yeah that Babydoll costume was perfect. I liked the action parts of the movie, but overall it was kind of sad:(

Megacon is one of the cons that is on my must go to list. I go to Dragon Con every year and love cosplaying for it, but all my convention friends keep telling me that Mega is where the action is. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I know the Star Sapphire in the pic at the top. She's an amazing costumer and does a spot on Wonder Woman.

yeah if you are a cosplayer, this is the place for you. I'd like to see that Star Sapphire as Wonder Woman, what's her name? maybe I can find a pic on line somewhere.

Her name is Margie Vizcarra Cox. Here's a link to an in depth interview she and her husband did: http://comicattack.net/2010/10/cosplayer-spotlight-coxs/

She's a really great person in general and super nice.

The only con I've ever been to that has more cosplayers than MegaCon is Dragon Con in Atlanta. It seems that you're in the minority if you're not in costume.

Do I spot a ninjara drawing in there? :)
