You owe it to yourself to check out the Burroughs John Carter of Mars books. Talk about action and high adventure, they must have totally blown people's minds when they were originally published in the early 20th century. My favorite characters are John's wife Deja Thoris, the planet's most beautiful (and always naked) woman/princess and his faithful multilegged, giant toothy dog-thing Woola...woof to both!

I don't know if you heard but Pixar is making a John Carter of Mars movie. Supposedly not "cartoony" at all.
Yeah, like most adaptations of things I like, I'm more scared than excited. I think I would have preferred a Pixar animated John Carter to a live action CG one, but we will see.
